Roll of Honour for the Royal Auxiliary Air Force

On Sunday, 28th October 2012, a Service will be held at the RAF Church of St Clement Danes to dedicate the Roll of Honour for the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, and to lay-up the Force’s first Sovereign’s Colour. The Service is being arranged by the Royal Auxiliary Air Force Foundation whose Patron, HRH The Duke of Gloucester, will be in attendance.  The Roll contains the names of AuxAF personnel (including those who served in Fighter Control Units) who died whilst on duty.

The Foundation is a relatively new organisation, born out of the Memorial Trust that created the Auxiliaries’ Memorial at Alrewas. It is finding its feet as regards contacts within the RAuxAF – in particular the bodies associated with it, such as Associations, SSAFA, RAFA, and so on.  This information has come to the FCA via Richard Mighall (r.mighall@which.net) who is chairman of the Trustees of the Foundation.

Former FCU members and families may wish to attend but entrance is by ticket only, and names of attendees must be finalised by 6 Oct.  Those interested could contact Richard Mighall on the email address given above or could contact Sqn Ldr Tony Freeman by letter or by email stating the reason for applying and the number of tickets required. Tony’s postal address is Cheyne Cottage, Tynron, Thornhill, Dumfriesshire DG3 4LA; his email address is tonyrauxaf@aol.com.
