FUTURE OF RAF BOULMER - SECURE

Members would wish to know that it was announced in the House of Commons by Minister (Armed Forces) on Thursday 10 Jan that RAF Boulmer will now remain as the ASACS Hub and will not close, as previously planned, in 2012. I am delighted that common-sense has finally prevailed and the future of Boulmer is now secure.  This is, in my view, great news for those who live and work at RAF Boulmer and for those of us who have such happy memories of our tours in Northumberland.

The future of RAF Scampton (CRC) and 1ACC's garrison at Kirton-in-Lindsey, Lincolnshire, remain subject to ongoing relocation deliberations and have yet to be determined.

Regards to all
Ginge

Delighted to hear this news. I spent five wonderful years at RAF Boulmer from 1977 - 1982 and I am very glad that the station has survived the cut.
