Death of Elenore Lowry
14.09.2010 at 11:30:12
Print Post
It is with a very heavy heart that I report the passing just before midnight last night of Elenore, wife to David Lowry and mother to Hannah and Emma (who prompted this impassioned plea in May of this year). Elenore had been suffering for more than 2 years with ovarian cancer and had not long undergone her fifth session of chemotherapy. I know everyone will wish to join with the message of condolence that we send to David, Hannah and Emma.

Sincere condolences to Dave and the girls on the very sad loss of Elenore.  We fondly recall meeting with the dogs when we were at Boulmer in the late 70s.

The Girls and I would like to thank all who have sent their kind thoughts to us, either on this website or by other means, on the loss of our Elenore. The words cannot 'fix' but they do help and are very much appreciated.

In true Irish Tradition, she had a good 'send-off'.

Many thanks for all your kind thoughts on this forum and sent by other means. Elenore's ashes were scattered by the New Brighton RNLI at 1300 on Sunday 24 October 2010 on a spring ebb tide. She now rests in the Irish Sea, in accordance to her wishes, at sea between her native country, Ireland, and her adopted country, the UK. The RNLI Crew conducted the short service and the proceedings with both sensitivity and humour. Exactly as Elenore would have wished. The were a friendly and impressive bunch. I will always be grateful.

A Mass will be held for her in Dublin in her old school in November. She was Head Girl. Our two daughters and I will be attending.
