Castles in the Sky (featuring the early work at Bawdsey) due to be shown next Thursday 4 Sep 14 on BBC2  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b04gnhv7. Chris Morshead of the Air Defence Radar Museum was involved in its making.

Stu,

Thanks! Meanwhile a statue to Watson-Watt was unveiled this week in Brechin: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-29037401
An unusual design. Might resonate with fans of 'The High Life'.

Well, I watched this so-called Docudrama and I think it was a bit too much drama and not enough Docu. Quite disappointed really.

My reaction exactly. Also, the building they substituted for the real Bawdsey Manor was very drab and depressing in comparison, even allowing for wartime austerity. Bawdsey was lovely.

I am told that the 1930s radar traces were shown on a 1940s APN-4 Loran indicator!  Good job I'm not an anorak.

I think the best bit was the intrigue at the Air Ministry between the various heads of projects/departments which I believe is based on historical facts.

It's a shame they didn't/couldn't film at the real Bawdsey - the place they used is so very different in atmosphere as Dave has remarked.

A big part of the story all ways seems to be missed and that was the development of the 'Dowding system' - may be we could have a film about Dowding (starring Peter Capaldi!??).

I agree with Wilks and Dave, very disappointing! Still, what more can one expect from the Beeb these days?
